What this text covers
AKIL AI is a non-commercial research project run by an independent AI researcher. This text explains which information is processed, why and how, when you use the web app at akillai.com, under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK). The data controller is the independent researcher who runs the project; you can get in touch about anything at symerayazilim@gmail.com.
What is not stored
- Your questions, AKIL's answers, the photos you send, the information in My memory and your city are never stored on the server, never written to disk and never included in log files.
- Your IP address is not stored.
- Your chats are not used to train models.
What is processed (without being stored)
- Questions and chats: So that an answer can be generated, the message you write, the earlier messages of the open chat, any photo you attach, the information in My memory, your city and the settings you choose (mode, response style) are sent to the server. The server keeps them in memory only while generating the answer; they are deleted once it is finished. What gets added to My memory is decided on the server in the same way, and the result is written only to your browser.
- Spoken answers: When you press "Listen", the answer text is sent to the server and the voice is generated there; the audio file is not saved to disk. The audio of short phrases is kept temporarily in the server's memory so it can respond faster, and is deleted when the server restarts.
- Dictation: Your browser's own speech recognition is used; in Chrome and Edge your voice is converted to text by Google or Microsoft. Your voice does not reach the AKIL AI server.
- Voice chat: This is dictation and spoken answers working together. Your speech is converted to text in your browser as described above; only the resulting text message reaches the server and is processed like a normal message. The voice of the answer is generated on the server and is not saved.
- Usage limits and security: To enforce the limit of 7 questions per 24 hours without signing in and to stop attacks, your IP address is summarized in a way that cannot be reversed. This summary and your question count are kept only in the server's memory, for at most 24 hours. If you signed in, your daily credits, your search count and the time of your last request (to detect misuse) are likewise kept only in memory, together with your account ID, for at most 24 hours. These are not written to disk and are deleted when the server restarts. The only exception: the ID of an account whose access was restricted for violating the rules is kept for as long as the restriction lasts.
- Technical logs: To troubleshoot problems, the server records only the time of a request, the operation requested, its result and numerical measurements (such as processing time). These logs contain no messages, answers, IP addresses or identities, and are deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Security reports: If the site's security policy blocks an attack attempt, your browser automatically reports it to the server. From this report the server only counts the type of violation; it does not store addresses or content.
Sign in with Google (optional)
If you sign in with Google, the name, email address and profile photo address of your Google account and an account ID are kept as an account record in Google Firebase Authentication, the sign-in service. This record is used only to verify that requests are yours and to count your daily credits; it is kept until you delete your account. You can delete it at any time via Settings > Delete my account (see akillai.com/en/hesap-sil). Your name and photo are shown only in your browser, on the Settings screen. You can also use it without signing in; then no account record is created.
What is kept in your browser
Your chats, photos and My memory are kept in browser storage reserved for this site only; your theme, color and voice preferences and your sign-in state are kept in your browser's local storage. They are not sent anywhere except what is sent to generate answers. You can delete them via Settings > Sign out > Delete and sign out, or by clearing the site data in your browser. Because other people using the same browser could see this data, we recommend choosing "Delete and sign out" when you leave a shared computer.
Service providers and transfers abroad
The servers of the following services may be located abroad. Each is used only for the task listed next to it:
- Cloudflare: Hosts the site and encrypts the connection between your browser and the server. It processes connection information (such as your IP address) under its own privacy policy. Cloudflare Turnstile may be used to tell bots apart; Turnstile does not use tracking cookies.
- Google: If you sign in with Google (Firebase Authentication; the sign-in window opens on Google's page) and if you email us (our contact address is a Gmail address; your email is kept on Google's servers).
- Tavily: If your question needs current information, the server creates a short search query and sends it to Tavily. Before the query is sent, information such as email addresses, phone numbers, ID, card and IBAN numbers is removed automatically. Your identity and IP address are not sent.
- Sites in search results: Images shown in an answer are loaded directly from the respective sites; if you click a source, that site opens. Your IP address is visible to those sites when this happens.
Why and how
Information is collected electronically through the site and at your request. The processing described above is carried out so that the service you request (generating an answer to your question) can be provided and the site can be kept secure (KVKK art. 5/2-c and art. 5/2-f). If you write to symerayazilim@gmail.com, your email is used only to reply and is kept for at most 1 year after your request is resolved.
Your rights
You can exercise your rights under Article 11 of the KVKK (to learn whether your data is processed, to request information, rectification, erasure, to object and others) by writing to symerayazilim@gmail.com; your request will be answered within 30 days at the latest. Since there is no chat or record of you on the server, in most cases there is nothing to delete; you can delete your Google sign-in record yourself or ask for it to be deleted. Your right to complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board is reserved.
